Walker out for season with torn labrum

WASHINGTON -- Right-hander Tyler Walker announced that he is out for season because of a torn labrum. He will go to Alabama this week to see Dr. James Andrews and get a second opinion.

Walker is expected to have surgery soon thereafter. Walker has had shoulder problems since a June 15 appearance against the Tigers.

During his rehab assignments, Walker said his shoulder grew worse after pitching consecutive games for Triple-A Syracuse.

"Right now, it's still hurting as if I pitched yesterday, and that's almost a week now," Walker said.

Walker pitched in 24 games and had a 3.57 ERA this season.
