Orioles at the plate: Luis Matos drove in two runs, while Brian Roberts, Melvin Mora, Jay Gibbons, Kevin Millar, David Newhan and Ramon Hernandez drove in a run apiece.

Nationals at the plate: Jose Guillen had a two-run double. Brandon Watson scored on a Jose Vidro double. Brendan Harris also drove in two runs with a double, while Kenny Kelly hit his first home run of the spring.

Orioles on the mound: Right-hander Kris Benson gave up two runs in four innings. He struck out one batter and walked another. He threw 58 pitches and 39 of them went for strikes. John Halama pitched two innings and gave up one run on three hits. Cory Morris pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up three runs.

Nationals on the mound: Right-hander John Patterson pitched five innings and gave up four runs -- three earned -- on six hits. Patterson threw 92 pitches -- 56 of them for strikes. Jon Rauch gave up four runs in one inning. Felix Rodriguez gave up his first run of the spring in the seventh inning.

Up next: The Nationals travel to Baltimore to play the Orioles at Camden Yards on Saturday at 4:35 p.m. ET. Pedro Astacio will get the start for Washington, while Daniel Cabrera gets the nod for Baltimore.
