NEW YORK -- Nationals left-hander Matt Chico was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday and invited to the team's Spring Training camp as a non-roster invitee.
Chico spent most of the 2010 season in the Minor Leagues, going a combined 7-9 with a 3.75 ERA at Syracuse and Double-A Harrisburg. He made one big league appearances, allowing two runs in five innings for Washington.
In 2007, Chico was arguably the Nationals' best pitcher. He led the team in innings pitched (167) and wins (seven), but it went downhill after that. He missed most of 2008 and part of the '09 season because of elbow surgery.
