Nationals at the plate:
Brian Schneider singled and scored, and Ryan Zimmerman beat out an infield single. Michael Restovich's groundout scored a run, the first RBI for the outfielder this spring, and Restovich also singled. Kory Casto knocked an RBI single.
Cardinals at the plate:
Scott Rolen hit his first home run of the spring, a solo shot in the second inning. John Rodriguez added a double and scored a run, and Gary Bennett picked up two singles.
Nationals on the mound:
Rotation candidate Jason Simontacchi fared well, allowing two runs on four hits over five innings. Simontacchi struck out one and did not issue a walk. Mike Bacsik turned in two shutout innings in relief, allowing three base hits but working around them.
Cardinals on the mound:
Starter Anthony Reyes was outstanding once again, pitching 4 1/3 innings of one-hit, no-walk, scoreless ball. Reyes struck out two as he lowered his spring ERA to 0.90. Tyler Johnson continued to struggle, allowing a run in two-thirds of an inning of relief work with two walks and two wild pitches.

Nationals 4-8; Cardinals 8-5.
Jason Isringhausen makes his 2007 spring debut on Thursday when he starts the Cardinals' game against the Dodgers at Roger Dean Stadium. Game time is 12:05 p.m. CT, with Mark Hendrickson pitching for Los Angeles. Washington has a split-squad day on Thursday. Matt Chico will start against Justin Verlander and the Tigers at home in Viera, while Jason Bergmann will oppose Jason Schmidt and the Dodgers. Both games are at 7:05 p.m. ET.
