PHILADELPHIA -- With left-handers Tommy Milone and Ross Detwiler having started Tuesday's doubleheader, Nationals manager Davey Johnson has decided Detwiler will pitch on normal rest and take the hill against the Braves on Sunday. Milone will get the nod against the Marlins on Monday in Miami.
The Nationals haven't announced who will pitch the season finale next Wednesday. Johnson said he would like to see right-hander Stephen Strasburg throw, but it's up to the doctors and front office people to determine if Strasburg is a go. Strasburg, who had Tommy John surgery last year, is expected to start Friday against the Braves at Nationals Park.
"I would like to bring him back [next] Wednesday. If I don't get anyone to fight me too hard, I'll bring him back." Johnson said.
If Strasburg doesn't start the last game, right-hander Brad Peacock -- who faced the Phillies on Wednesday -- would get the nod.
