WASHINGTON -- First baseman Dmitri Young, on the disabled list since early April because of a sprained back, arrived at the Nationals' Spring Training complex in Viera, Fla., on Sunday night and took batting practice the next day. He didn't have any problems during the session.
Young is expected to take fielding practice within the next three or four days.
There is no timetable as to when Young will play in the Major Leagues. He said he wants to get his body in baseball shape first.
Meanwhile, the Nationals insist that Elijah Dukes' performance will determine when he will be back in the Major Leagues. Since joining Triple-A Columbus on Saturday, Dukes has gone 4-for-10 with three RBIs. On Sunday, Dukes was ejected in the fifth inning for arguing balls and strikes, according to the Columbus Dispatch.
