DENVER -- It looks like Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman and shortstop Cristian Guzman are getting over their injuries.
Zimmerman, who hurt his right hand after being hit by a Kyle Kendrick pitch last Thursday, took batting practice twice on Monday. Zimmerman's hand is still swollen, but he came in as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning and flied out to center field. Manager Manny Acta believes that Zimmerman will start against the Rockies on Tuesday.
As for Guzman, his left thumb is getting better and will take batting practice on Tuesday. Guzman, who recently agreed to a two-year extension, had a soft-tossing session in the cage on Monday.
Guzman hasn't started a game since July 25, but has been a defensive replacement.
