Nats to receive No. 1 pick in '09 Draft

PHILADELPHIA -- By having the worst record in Major League Baseball this season, the Nationals will receive the first overall pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft.

They also have the No. 9B selection after right-hander Aaron Crow, their first pick in the 2008 First-Year Player Draft, decided not to sign.

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg, who plays for San Diego State, is considered by many to be the best player in the Draft. His fastball is in the 100-mph range, and he's the only college player to play on the U.S. Olympic baseball team in Beijing this year.

Strasburg opened eyes on April 11, when he struck out 23 against the University of Utah at Tony Gwynn Stadium.
