Nationals reinstate RHP Ross Ohlendorf from DL, option LHP Ian Krol to Syracuse

The Washington Nationals today returned from rehab and reinstated right-handed pitcher Ross Ohlendorf from the 15-Day Disabled List and optioned left-handed pitcher Ian Krol to Syracuse. Nationals President of Baseball Operations and General Manager Mike Rizzo made the announcement.

Ohlendorf is the Nationals' scheduled starting pitcher tonight at Wrigley Field.

The 31 year-old Ohlendorf is 2-0 with one hold and a 1.85 ERA (7 ER/34.0 IP) in 10 games/two starts in his first season with the Nationals. In two spot starts (win on June 12 at Colorado, no-decision on July 26 vs. New York Mets) with Washington this season, Ohlendorf is 1-0 with a 1.38 ERA (2 ER/13.0 IP).

He posted a 5.14 ERA (4 ER/7.0 IP) during two rehab assignments, one apiece with Triple-A Syracuse (August 10) and Single-A Potomac (August 16), since being placed on the Disabled List on August 4.

Ohlendorf is 20-32 with a 4.87 ERA in 118 games/75 starts spanning seven seasons with Washington, San Diego, Pittsburgh and New York (AL).

Krol, 22, went 1-1 with one hold (June 12 at Colorado) and a 3.24 ERA in 27 appearances in his first big league stint with the Nationals.
