NEW YORK -- The Nationals will celebrate their 10th season in Washington in 2014, and outfielder Bryce Harper, third baseman Ryan Zimmerman and right-hander Stephen Strasburg are expected to be integral parts of the team.
The Nationals' schedule for the '14 season came out Tuesday and there will be exciting action.
They start the season by playing a three-game series against the Mets in New York beginning March 31. Then they go to Nationals Park to begin a six-game homestand starting with a three-game series against the Braves on April 4. The Marlins then come to town for a three-game set starting April 8.
In fact, the Nationals don't play a team outside the National League East until April 17, when they begin a four-game series against the Cardinals at Nationals Park.
Washington will get its share of action against American League clubs. There is the Battle of the Beltways against the Orioles, a home-and-home four-game series starting July 7 at Nationals Park. Then it is back to Camden Yards to play Baltimore starting July 9. This year, the Orioles won the series, 3-1.
The Nationals will play AL West teams in '14. They go to Houston to play the Astros in a two-game series starting April 29, and the Astros will come to Washington for another two-game set in June.
The Nationals play the Athletics in Oakland starting May 9 and make a trip to Seattle to play the Mariners starting Aug. 29. They last played Seattle in 2011, with the Nationals sweeping the three-game series.
The Angels will come to Washington for a three-game series that begins on April 21, and the Rangers will stop by Nationals Park for a three-game series starting May 30. The two teams haven't played each other since 2008, when the Rangers took two out of three games.
