WASHINGTON -- Right-hander Stephen Strasburg, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft, spoke to the media on Thursday for the first time since rejoining the team last Friday.
Strasburg has spent most of his time getting his arm in shape in order to play in the Instructional League later this month, and he is expected to play in the Arizona Fall League.
"I'm lifting and conditioning every day," Strasburg said. "I'm just trying to get my arm in shape and get ready for the Arizona Fall League.
"I really enjoyed being up here, being around the players. I was here by myself and doing my own thing."
There has been a frenzy over Strasburg since his days playing for San Diego State, and he is learning to deal with all the media requests.
"I guess it goes with the territory. I'll learn to live with it," he said. "I kind of accepted the fact that I have to answer the same questions a few times. It's all good. I'm finally getting closer to stepping on the mound and facing some hitters. It's getting pretty exciting."
