WASHINGTON -- Nationals manager Matt Williams challenged an umpire's call at first base in the top of the third inning on Tuesday night at Nationals Park and the play was overturned.

With one out, Phillies right-hander David Buchanan hit a ground ball to first baseman Adam LaRoche, who threw the ball to pitcher Jordan Zimmermann, but Buchanan was ruled safe by first-base umpire Ed Hickox. It appeared to be Buchanan's first career hit.

But Williams wanted the play to go under review. One minute and 18 seconds later, the play was overturned and Buchanan was called out.
