Braves at the plate: Atlanta scored its first two runs in the first inning. Martin Prado hit a one-out home run, and Jason Heyward scored on a single by Melky Cabrera. Prado was able to add to the scoring in the top of the fifth inning with a two-run single. Joe Thurston hit a home run off Matt Capps in the top of the ninth inning.
Nationals at the plate: Adam Kennedy scored the first run for Washington in the fifth on a single by Ivan Rodriguez. Roger Bernadina scored on a wild pitch by right-hander Jeff Lyman in the eighth. The Nationals collected just five hits in the game.
Braves on the mound: Right-hander Derek Lowe pitched four shutout innings without giving up a hit. He struck out six batters without walking any. Jo-Jo Reyes gave up one run in two innings. Mariano Gomez closed it out in the ninth.
Nationals on the mound: Right-hander Garrett Mock pitched four innings, giving up two runs on four hits. After giving up two runs in the first inning, Mock retired the next nine hitters he faced. Drew Storen gave up his first two runs of the spring in his one inning on the mound.
Worth noting: The Nationals didn't collect a hit until Adam Kennedy doubled to left field off Reyes in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Up next: Washington is playing split-squad games Tuesday, and Jim Riggleman has decided to manage the team when it plays the Cardinals in Jupiter, Fla. Bench coach John McLaren will manage the club in Viera, Fla., as it plays the Marlins at Space Coast Stadium. Left-hander John Lannan will pitch the game in Jupiter, while right-hander Craig Stammen gets the nod against Florida.
The Braves return to Champion Stadium to face the Marlins, who are also playing split-squad games. Braves right-hander Jair Jurrjens will face Florida right-hander Josh Johnson.
