Zimmerman gets close with Caveman

|
VIERA, Fla. -- What did Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman do during his off-day Thursday? He spent three hours shooting a Geico commercial with "The Caveman" at Space Coast Stadium. No date has been set on when the commercial will air.

Zimmerman was seen trying to tag out The Caveman at third base. It's not known whether he was out or safe during the shooting.

"It was fun. I think any time you get a chance to do that kind of stuff, it's different than baseball," Zimmerman said. "I really enjoyed that kind of stuff. I stood there and did the same thing over and over for a long time."

What was it like working with The Caveman?

"He is really funny. He made it easy for us," Zimmerman said. "He looks a lot different up close than he does in the commercial. He looks like an ugly caveman."

The Caveman declined to comment on Zimmerman or the commercial.
